Learn to Create Memorable Tile Art
Mosaic Tile Basics is a great place to start. During this mosaic tile course, you will learn
“Pique Assiette” (broken ceramic pieces) construction. We will cover the basics of mosaic
tile materials, mosaic tile tools, cutting methods and application. If you like puzzles, this
class is for you. The skills acquired in this class can be applied to limitless mosaic
projects. Once you get started with this great art form beware, nothing is safe from you.

August 1-7, 2009 The Many Facets of African American Quilting

The bi-annual quilt show of the Brown Sugar Stitchers Quilt Guild will be held August 1, 2009.
The theme of the show is The Many Facets of African American Quilting,
and in addition to the quilts, the guild will exhibit over 30 dolls!
Opening day of the show will also feature a silent auction and a lecture by
Carolyn Mazloomi. Also, included in the show will be a special collection
of quilts that will be donated to children in the Carrie Steele Pitts Home and a
collection of first quilts from a girl scout troop. The show opens
August 1 and runs through August 7 (closed Sunday).
Admission is free. The location of the show is South Fulton Arts Center,
4645 Butner Road, College Park, GA. See you there!

Alliance Française d’Atlanta, Atlanta’s premier
provider of French language and culture. 

Entertainment for Bastille Day 2009 will be a tribute to the
live performances made popular in French cafes, music festivals,
and night clubs in Paris, the South of France, Montreux and
Montreal Jazz Festivals and across the world.  Produced by
Hot Ice Live and hosted by Jazz 91.9 FM WCLK announcer
Jamal Ahmad, each room will be a cultural immersion with a
distinct atmosphere.  In addition Interactive Painter Fabian Williams
will capture his interpretation of Bastille Day 2009 “Live”!

May 24, 2009 Decatur Arts Festival Fine Arts Exhibit

Intown Quilters, along with members of the Phoenix and Fearless
Friday Quilt Guilds and the Brown Sugar Stitchers, is sponsoring
a one-day quilt show at the Dekalb History Center in the Old Decatur
Courthouse building. Visit the Decatur Arts Festival and the Dalton Gallery
for the Fine Arts Exhibit, and stop by the Dekalb History Center to see
this fabulous event.This free quilt show will be held in conjunction with the Decatur
Arts Festival on Sunday, May 24th from 12-5pm. Please come out and view
